Incredible! Tigran Hamasyan: ā€œVortexā€ (Feat. Tosin Abasi) | Homemade Playthrough

Music • Views: 19,141

YouTube

šŸ—ŗļø Finally here is a (seriously home made) playthrough of a track from #TheCallWithin album called ā€œš•šŽš‘š“Ō·š—ā€ (featuring Tosin Abasi). I have written the main melody/ bass line of this when I was back in collage (I still have a demo of it with super cheesy sounding synth solo). But over the years the tune developed and was finally ready to be documented!

šŸ•¶ļø It was a great pleasure and an honor to have Tosin Abasi lay his super awesome guitars on the original track. I would like to also thank Evan Marien and Arthur Hnatek for slaying it as well!

šŸ‘‰ Listen and order the album here: https://tigranhamasyan.lnk.to/TheCallWithin

Worth to mention that the character Ō· (=Latin E) is the seventh letter of the Armenian alphabet, and it corresponds to the word Essence [Ć©utiun]. This letter represents the ā€˜essence of lifeā€™. Like the essence of life, this piece is in a constant motion represented by a vortex rotating in cycles of large and small sevens.

Not a migrant to be seen.

Same as with the Texas Abbott move that disrupted supply chains and caused billions in damages, most of it losses by the drivers stuck waiting for their vehicles to clear the checkpoints.

They found nothing.

Itā€™s all a sham, but media will use the GOP press as templates for their own reporting, instead of showing that this is a sham.

In our private chat with only Members, several are saying the only way to save our Republic is for Trump to call for Marshall (sic) law. I donā€™t know on those things. I just wanted you to tell him. They stole this election. We all know. They will destroy our country next. Please tell him to declassify as much as possible so we can go after Biden and anyone else!ā€ Greene wrote to Meadows on January 17, 2021.

Got my new refurbed Acer. Itā€™s still only got the 4 gb and 128 gb nvme in it so Iā€™m just playing a bit till the upgrades arrive tomorrow.

Took a bit of searching to find out how to get into the bios and then even more to turn off Secure Boot so I could thwack Windows. But I found the incantation and installed FreeBSD 13 from DVD. X org is loading now, XFCE to follow then weā€™ll see how well the video works. Probably wonā€™t do much more than that since Iā€™m going to reinstall tomorrow anyway but itā€™s fun for testing.

Still, light weight yet feels stronger than some Iā€™ve owned with aluminum skins on it. The screws for the bottom are normal screws so thatā€™ll be easier. Only thing missing for me is a SD card slot would have been nice, but I have one thatā€™ll fit in the USB C slot.

Hard decisions :-)

I wonder if half of the reason, is to make it harder for Russia to deal with its US assets now that normal funding channels are increasingly being cut off.

Jared Padalecki was forced to drop out of a convention appearance on Sunday after the actor found himself in a ā€œvery badā€ car accident, according to his Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles. Ackles took the stage at a convention for the show, where he revealed that Padalecki had to stay home and recuperate after the accident.

ā€œI miss my buddy. He sends his love. I spoke with him yesterday. Heā€™s sad he canā€™t be here,ā€ Ackles told the crowd gathered. Thatā€™s when he revealed the harrowing accident details. ā€œHe was in a very bad car accident. He wasnā€™t driving. He was in the passenger seat, and heā€™s lucky to be alive.ā€

I think he was helped along by his fatherā€™s wealth:

He briefly attended the University of Pretoria before moving to Canada at age 17 to avoid conscription. He was enrolled at Queenā€™s University and transferred to the University of Pennsylvania two years later, where he received a bachelorā€™s degree in economics and physics. He moved to California in 1995 to attend Stanford University but decided instead to pursue a business career, co-founding the web software company Zip2 with his brother Kimbal. The startup was acquired by Compaq for $307 million in 1999. The same year, Musk co-founded online bank x.com, which merged with Confinity in 2000 to form PayPal. The company was bought by eBay in 2002 for $1.5 billion.en.wikipedia.org

The kooks now imagine that a magic bed can act like a science-fiction Autodoc, and grifters are ready to take their money.

In a popular QAnon chat group, a woman named Julie was selling hope and a $22,000 cancer treatment.

For ā€œthose interested in medbeds,ā€ she wrote in a 36,000-member QAnon group on the chat platform Telegram, ā€œFYI My husband uses a #medbed generator and 4 tesla biohealers for his stage 3 inoperable and aggressive salivary gland tumor. THIS technology is very supportive!ā€

The message might have sounded like gibberish to outside readers. But in this corner of the internet, where conspiracy theories and alternative health practices run wild, it suggested something barely short of a miracle: the arrival of a much-hyped device that followers think could treat aggressive cancer.

An increasingly popular conspiracy theory falsely centers around the existence of ā€œmed beds,ā€ a fabled medical instrument that does everything from reversing aging to regrowing missing limbs. The theory has grown in popularity among followers of far-right movements like QAnon, some of whom claim to be urgently awaiting a med bed to treat severe health conditions.

Moderation doesnā€™t scale as easily as infrastructure does.

Moderation doesnā€™t scale at all ā€” you need a computer algorithm to handle most of it. And then when the offender complains (as I complained when FB banned my post linking to nerdle ā€” really FB, you objected to nerdle??? ), you have to have a staff that can investigate and that costs real money. Handling moderation is a nightmare when there are 200 million users and 500 million tweets daily.

In any case, I wonder if there was an agreement with Trump to allow him back on ā€” that Twitter is now the new Truth Social. Since he is no longer President, he can elect to ban anyone posting a response to his tweets. The best of all worlds: say whatever he wants and never hear any criticism.

Iā€™m often fond of the myth that every successful person or company never produced flops. Most successful companies produce all sorts of flops. The running joke is that every other version of Windows is a flop.

Bell Labs produced C, Unix, C++, but had all sorts of other disasters.
IBM had itā€™s share of flops.
Ford produced the Edsel.

What causes these companies to succeed is that they can fail.

Oh Jesus H. Fucking Christ, our Republicans are now claiming the FRENCH rigged their elections.

The size of the conspiracy youā€™d need to rig French presidential elections boggles the mind.

There are about 36,000 communes on France. Each has at least one polling place. The vote totals for each polling place are posted outside when the count is finished (each polling place does is own count, the count bring largely done by people who volunteer during the voting process, supervised by local officials and representatives of the candidates). The totals are sent to the ministry of the interior via the local prefet where the final national result is totaled.

If you change the numbers sent up to the prefet then people would notice next day that the total outside the bureau de vote didnā€™t correpond to the total in the local newspaper, and so on up the chain.

How could you hide a fraud big enough to change the result by 16% (about 5 million votes)?

No one ā€” and I mean NO ONE ā€” looks worse than Rick Perry, however.
You remember Perry ā€” the former Texas governor who served as the secretary of energy in former President Donald Trumpā€™s White House.
What you may not remember is that CNN reported this about Perry back in December 2021:
ā€œMembers of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol believe that former Texas Governor and Trump Energy Secretary Rick Perry was the author of a text message sent to then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows the day after the 2020 election pushing an ā€˜AGRESSIVE (sic) STRATEGYā€™ for three state legislatures to ignore the will of their voters and deliver their statesā€™ electors to Donald Trump, three sources familiar with the House Committee investigation tell CNN.ā€

Why this former Trump official [Rick Perry] comes out looking absolutely terrible in the Mark Meadows texts (CNN - Unfortunately, Chris Cillizza)

In December 2021, claims of workplace sexual harassment from five former SpaceX employees, ranging from interns to full engineers, were published. The former employees allegedly experienced ā€œunwanted advances.. uncomfortable interactions.ā€ Additionally, the accounts included claims of a ā€œculture of sexual harassmentā€ existing at the company and one where complaints made to executives, managers, and human resources officers went largely unaddressed. One claimant stated she began to suffer panic attacks and ultimately resigned as a result; she specifically criticized Musk for his alleged role in ā€œfostering a culture where burnout and misogyny are rampant.ā€

Oh this one is a real knee-slapper:

In October 2021, a jury verdict in the Owen Diaz vs. Tesla trial awarded the plaintiff $137 million in damages after he had faced racial harassment at Teslaā€™s Fremont facility during 2015-2016. In a blog, Tesla stressed that Diaz was never ā€œreallyā€ a Tesla worker, and that most utterings of the n-word were expressed in a friendly manner. In April 2022, federal judge William Orrick upheld the jury finding of Teslaā€™s liability but reduced the total damage down to $15 million.

Over here at Too Big To Fail Financial Institution, of course we have sexual harassment, but Iā€™m sure you remember how, a couple of years ago, our CEO said that there werenā€™t enough people of color available to promote into banking slots. This was at a private meeting, but it got leaked out a couple months later. re: #104 Charles Johnson

How much housing could he have provided, how many meals for starving people, how many children could he have raised out of poverty if he took that $44 billion and spent it on actually helping humanity?

These superrich think that donating a few million or even a few billion makes up for the fact that the distortion of the tax base is ruinous to everyone else.

Theyā€™d still be superrich if taxes were applied to their income and estates as in the heady days of the 1950s that these right wingers love to tout were idyllic (for reasons that have nothing to do with taxes, but everything to do with segregation and bigotry). These taxes would pay for programs that we always hear are too expensive to fund, when we can find a billion or trillion more to pay for military spending (like say a few billion for a new ship class, only to retire it a few years later because of problems).

Bake sales for books, but no problem finding the funds to pay for submarines and ships and missiles.

Musk doesnā€™t know what to do with the money he has - thatā€™s how obscenely wealthy he is. Heā€™s got wealth that makes Trump look like a pauper (well, because he is - compared to Musk). Heā€™s doing vanity projects that feed his ego, even though he could put it to higher and better uses, like solving housing or energy or poverty. He could fund a new university from scratch with a billion dollar investment as easily as I could write a $100 donation. He could endow and make it free for all who attend.

He has so many options, but instead thinks that controlling a town square and speech is his play.

Weā€™ll see how this plays out.

The right wingā€™s rhetoric changes as needed to promote white supremacy. During the 70ā€™s it was all about ā€œpersonal responsibilityā€. You never hear that anymore. Because it was a fraud.

Then it was ā€œkeeping government out of businessā€ in the Reagan 80ā€™s.. you never hear that anymore. Because it was a fraud.

Now itā€™s ā€œFreedomā€ā€¦ with NO responsibility and the right of government to directly harass and vilify businesses not 100% aligned with Republican politicians (looking at YOU DeSantis). Their ā€œfreedomā€ is 100% fraudulent.

Once they have 100% achieved their power goals starting 2025 they will drop any and ALL references to ā€œfreedomā€ and the rhetoric will drop any pretenses other than ā€œusā€ and ā€œthemā€ ā€¦ with the ā€œthemā€ to be diminished and eliminated.

When it first hit the market in December, the COVID-19 antiviral treatment, Paxlovid, was hailed as a game-changer, an effective medicine that kept at-risk people out of the hospital. But now some patients are reporting on social media an unusual and unnerving phenomenon: their COVID symptoms appear to rebound after taking the medication.

And itā€™s not just their symptoms that reappear. Many report that after finishing their five-day course of treatment, feeling better, and testing negative on an at-home rapid test, they then test positive again a few days later.

The issue has captured the attention of at least two teams of Boston-area scientists, who are trying to understand what might be fueling the problem. Resistance to the drug? Patients being quickly reinfected? Or maybe some people just need to take the medicine longer to mount a more effective immune response.

When signing up for counter.social, and when I tried to get them to resend the email, something attempted to send an email from ip address 185.239.243.105
Which reverse resolves to moktrack.live

But moktrack.live as a domain doesnā€™t resolve (NXDOMAIN), so my normal mail server rules werenā€™t allowing it to send an incoming email.

Iā€™m a little less confident about their ability to scale if they donā€™t even have reverse DNS for whatever server(s) they use to send outgoing email, let alone SPF and other modern DNS records for email servers.

Because BLM and Antifa arenā€™t idiots.

I would like to know more about why they avoided falling for this.

They are not stupid. They can see a wingnut setup.

I donā€™t think this was the one and only (or even first) warning, but on the 4th and 5th Mayor Bowser went on all the socials, and the networks, and made personal phone calls to the local BLM organizers warning them something was up and telling them to steer clear.

re: #196 Belafon

Letā€™s put it differently: if the enemy gets elected president, do you run or do you stay and fight?

1.) He did ā€¦ in 2016.
2.) None of us moved out of the country after November 2016.
3.) We tried to fight the enemy as best we could short of actual violence.
4.) We dealt him a setback in 2020.
5.) Thatā€™s why the Enemy forces are rigging the game in 2022.
6.) Some of us have been trying to hold the line against the theofascist authoritarian wing of the Republican party since the Carter/Reagan match in 1980.
7.) The Enemy has been successfully chipping away at that defensive line for 42 years.
8.) That line sustained a significant breach in 2016.
9.) The Enemy with help from our media, the courts they spent years capturing, and two opportunistic Democratic senators have been sabotaging efforts to repair the defensive line.
10.) How do you stop the damage Musk will do once he implements his policies on twitter? How does staying on Twitter actually stop Musk from enabling the worst of the worst?

re: #248 sagehen

Yes, I remember hearing requests from BLM, community and political leaders asking that there not be any counter protests. Additionally, the Proud Boys had already made a name for themselves looking for fights. And there did not seem to be any local feeling of need for fighting back in one of the most heavily policed spots in the US.
